LOGLINE: When a homicide detective miraculously survives a bullet ripping through his brain, he quickly finds himself on the most wanted list due to his unfathomable cannibalistic hunger and trail of victims.

SYNOPSIS:

On a late night, Matt Jones, a homicide detective, receives a call about a deadly shooting. He is the first to arrive at the murder scene, only to be shot in the head, and everything goes black. When Matt awakens in a hospital room, surrounded by doctors shocked to see him alive, he learns that he was in a coma for 13 years and woke up six hours after life support was withdrawn on the 6th day of the 6th month. After a 72-hour observation hold, Matt is released back into society to resume his life.

The first thing Matt does is take a long walk down an isolated street, where he witnesses a horrific car crash that results in a fatality. Instead of offering help, Matt succumbs to his urges and the voices in his head, tasting the blood. Once he does, his life spirals out of control as he continues to satisfy his newfound craving. Matt becomes willing to do anything for his next fix of blood, which evolves into eating human flesh. His methods include luring, kidnapping, vehicular homicide, and shooting people to feast on their bodies. He indulges in consuming human flesh in various ways, sometimes raw, occasionally seasoned, or even cooked.

After several victims and one escapee, the police become aware of Matt's activities. Despite this, Matt enters a food truck competition, serving human meat disguised as various foods, and wins. When he discovers his face is all over the news, he blows up his food truck, killing over a hundred people, landing him on the most wanted list.

Having consumed so much human flesh, Matt contracts Kuru, a rare, fatal neurological disorder caused by cannibalism. As his body deteriorates, he ends up in the hospital for his disease and is arrested, but he manages to escape, albeit seriously injured. Matt continues his cannibalistic spree until he is captured again. Even in jail, he persists in eating human flesh. In court, he is sentenced to the death penalty and transferred to prison, where he continues his gruesome feasting as his condition worsens.

Fed up with Matt's psychotic tendencies, the warden decides to execute him personally. Matt is taken to a swamp and subjected to scaphism—an ancient Persian torture method entailing death by being eaten alive by insects. Stripped naked and tied up in a small boat under the blazing sun, Matt is force-fed a mixture of milk and honey over the course of 72 hours. The same mixture is smeared all over his body. The resulting body waste, combined with the sweet scent of the mixture, attracts flies, maggots, bees, wasps, and hornets. Over several days, Matt is devoured by these vermin, ultimately dying as the insects consume every ounce of his flesh, leaving only bones.
