GENRE: Drama

LOGLINE: A young nurse and an engineer, both army veterans, meet unexpectedly years after their military service has ended. When one of them makes a disturbing discovery that threatens their budding relationship, only a Christmas miracle can save it.

SYNOPSIS:

Krista Shepherd, a young nurse, met her husband while they were both enlisted in the Army. He was killed on duty in the Middle East while she was pregnant with their first child, a boy, who is now eight years old. Devastated by his loss, she left her position in the military and returned home to her widowed father in Houston, and is now employed at a local hospital.

Josef and Anna Gruber, an elderly couple, are visiting their grandson, Garrett, a petroleum engineer in Houston. He is also a "wounded warrior," having been injured when his Army transport hit an IED years earlier. When Anna becomes ill, she is subsequently admitted to the medical unit where Krista works.

The first time Garrett meets Krista, he is immediately struck by the thought that he knows her from somewhere. Even though she feels an attraction to the handsome Garrett, she dismisses the idea, as she is certain she has never seen him before. Haunted by a mystery he can't explain, Garrett goes through old photos that he hasn't seen since leaving the Army. There, among them, he finds the answer. Will this shocking discovery serve to ruin their budding romance?

Meanwhile, a young nun, Sister Angela, a serene beauty, has just been assigned to work on the hospital unit where Krista is employed. Even though it is a Catholic Hospital, the addition of a nun, especially a young, beautiful one, is a very unusual circumstance for the hospital staff. Who is this mysterious beauty who seemingly came from nowhere, and why has she appeared now, at Christmas?

Throughout the entire story, there is a theme of holiday snow and the improbability of a white Christmas in balmy Houston. Growing up there, Krista had never experienced a snowy Christmas until she was stationed in Colorado, where she met her husband. Still grieving his loss, she has very poignant memories of the one Christmas they spent together before he was deployed.

Josef and Anna also reminisce about growing up in Austria prior to World War II and the holidays they enjoyed as children. Though separated for many years during and after the war, theirs is a story of love, loss, and redemption. As her death and Christmas near, Anna makes Josef a promise: “When you see the snow, you will know that I am in heaven.” Will it snow as she promises?

You will find the answers to all these questions, in addition to shedding a few seasonal tears, in this family-friendly drama.
